White grape varieties
Avesso
The queen grape variety of the Douro Valley sub-region of Baião, it requires warmer climates and protection from the Atlantic influence.
This grape variety is characterized by full-bodied, deep wines with very fruity aromas, such as peach, orange, and pineapple, and complex, harmonious flavors with almond notes. The combination of ripeness and acidity guarantees good longevity.
Arinto
Grown throughout the region also known as Pedernã, this is one of Portugal's oldest and most versatile white grape varieties.
It stands out for the quality of its citrus fruit, sometimes with notes of green apple and orange blossom, and for its robust acidic structure, producing expressive, intense, and long-lasting wines.
Alvarinho
The most emblematic grape varieties of the Vinho Verde region, with hot, dry summers, offer characteristics that produce wines of excellence, highly valued for their expressiveness, personality, and enormous longevity, capable of aging in the bottle for several years.
Alvarinho wines are extremely balanced and structured, ranging from citrus to tropical flavors. It is this noble versatility that makes it one of the most widely used grape varieties in this region today.
Loureiro
This grape variety has been known since the 18th century. It produces aromatic wines with citrus and floral notes, resulting in delicate and crisp wines that are sometimes excellent for aging.
Trajadura
It is mainly used for blends with other grape varieties, is distributed throughout the Vinho Verde region, ripens well without being too expressive, with some notes of peach, pear, banana, and ripe apple. It produces full-bodied wines with moderate acidity.
This grape variety is good for softening wines with more acidic grape varieties.
Fernão Pires
It is a versatile grape variety, usually with floral and fruity aromas. This variety produces wines with a higher alcohol content and low acidity.
These wines usually have a certain structure and complexity, which can be good for aging, but at the same time it is an excellent grape variety for younger wines.
Red Grape Varieties
Touriga Nacional
Known worldwide for its extraordinary red wines, this grape variety is not usually associated with Vinho Verde wines, but because we are in Resende, where we have a slightly different climate, we are able to obtain fabulous, aromatic, and fruity wines from this variety, offering excellent aging and storage potential.
Vinhão
This grape variety is characterized by giving red wines a very deep color, with compact bunches. It is also an excellent red grape variety for obtaining acidity, tannins, red fruit aromas, and sometimes balsamic notes, thus producing a robust and fruity wine.
Vinhas Velhas
The old vines are among the best that the Resende region has to offer. In addition to their genetic diversity, they also offer us the history of this locality, its past and future, as well as the majestic grapes that are produced here, the perfect blend for the best wines that this winery has to offer.
